TLDR; PROJECT SUMMARY AI BETA
This project looks at proteins called Class F Receptors and Patched that help control how cells develop. When these proteins are overactive or inactive, they can cause cancers like Basal Cell Carcinoma and Medulloblastoma. By using computer simulations, scientists hope to understand how these proteins work so they can better study and treat these diseases.

Class F Receptors and Patched Membrane Protein Class F Receptors and Patched are human proteins that are involved in the control of cell differentiation.
Over-activation/inactivation of these proteins has links to Basal Cell Carcinoma and Medulloblastoma.
Through simulations we aim to understand the activation mechanisms of these proteins, giving us a way to probe into the pathogenesis of the disease.

Class F Receptors
Receptors belonging to a class of G protein-coupled receptors.
Class F receptors are a type of protein found on the surface of cells that receive signals from other molecules. Scientists are studying Class F receptors because they play a role in diseases like basal cell carcinoma.
Patched
A transmembrane protein that regulates the activity of Hedgehog signaling pathway.
Patched is a protein found on the surface of cells. It acts as a brake on the Hedgehog signaling pathway, which is important for controlling cell growth and development. When Patched is not working properly, it can lead to problems like cancer.
Basal Cell Carcinoma
A type of skin cancer that arises from the basal cells.
Basal cell carcinoma is the most common type of skin cancer. It starts in the basal cells, which are found in the deepest layer of the epidermis (skin). Basal cell carcinoma usually grows slowly and rarely spreads to other parts of the body.
Medulloblastoma
A type of malignant brain tumor that arises from the cerebellum.
Medulloblastoma is a serious type of childhood brain cancer. It starts in the cerebellum, which is responsible for controlling balance and movement. Medulloblastoma can spread to other parts of the brain and body.
