TLDR; PROJECT SUMMARY AI BETA
This project studies Class F Receptors and Patched proteins, which help control how cells develop. When these proteins don't work right, they can lead to cancers like Basal Cell Carcinoma and Medulloblastoma. By using computer simulations, we hope to learn how these proteins activate and gain a better understanding of these diseases.

Class F Receptors and Patched Membrane Protein Class F Receptors and Patched are human proteins that are involved in the control of cell differentiation.
Over-activation/inactivation of these proteins has links to Basal Cell Carcinoma and Medulloblastoma.
Through simulations we aim to understand the activation mechanisms of these proteins, giving us a way to probe into the pathogenesis of the disease.

Class F Receptors
A class of cell surface receptors involved in signal transduction.
Class F Receptors are a type of protein found on the surface of cells. They play a crucial role in receiving signals from outside the cell and relaying them to the inside, influencing various cellular processes like growth and differentiation. Problems with these receptors can contribute to diseases like Basal Cell Carcinoma.
Patched Membrane Protein
A transmembrane protein involved in regulating cell growth and differentiation.
Patched is a membrane protein that acts as a regulator of cell growth and development. It helps control the activity of other proteins involved in these processes. Disruptions in Patched function can lead to uncontrolled cell growth, contributing to cancers like Medulloblastoma.
Basal Cell Carcinoma
A type of skin cancer that originates in the basal cells.
Basal Cell Carcinoma is the most common type of skin cancer. It arises from abnormal growth of basal cells, which are found in the deepest layer of the epidermis (outer skin layer). While usually slow-growing and treatable, it can spread if left unchecked.
Medulloblastoma
An aggressive type of brain cancer that originates in the cerebellum.
Medulloblastoma is a serious childhood brain tumor that starts in the cerebellum, the part of the brain responsible for balance and coordination. It's known for its rapid growth and can spread to other parts of the body.
