TLDR; PROJECT SUMMARY AI BETA
Class A GPCRs are important because they control many things in our bodies, like how we feel and stay healthy. They act like messengers inside our cells. This project relates to understanding how these messengers work so we can create better medicines for diseases like cancer, diabetes, depression, and anxiety.
Note: This TLDR is a simplication and may not be 100% accurate.OFFICAL PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Class A GPCRs: Class A GPCRs are pivotal drug targets in our body, as they are involved in regulating almost all homeostatic processes in the human body.
It is estimated that around 35% of all drugs currently approved by the FDA target one of these GPCRs.
These proteins act like 'molecular telephones' and transmit signals from outside the cell to inside the cell.
Here, we aim to study the process that underlies their action on our body.
This is integral for providing insights into the protein's function and design better and new drugs targeting cancer, diabetes, depression and anxiety.

GPCRs
G protein-coupled receptors
GPCRs are a large family of cell surface proteins that act as receptors for hormones and neurotransmitters. They play a crucial role in transmitting signals from the outside to the inside of cells, influencing various physiological processes.
FDA
Food and Drug Administration
The FDA is a federal agency responsible for regulating food safety, drug approval, and other public health matters.
Cancer
Uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells.
Cancer is a broad term for diseases involving the uncontrolled growth and spread of abnormal cells. These cells can invade surrounding tissues and organs, leading to various health problems.
Diabetes
A chronic metabolic disorder characterized by high blood sugar levels.
Diabetes is a condition where the body struggles to regulate blood sugar (glucose). This can result from problems with insulin production or the body's response to insulin.
Depression
A mood disorder characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and loss of interest.
Depression is a common mental health condition that affects thoughts, feelings, behavior, and physical well-being. It involves prolonged periods of low mood, often accompanied by fatigue, sleep disturbances, and changes in appetite.
Anxiety
A feeling of excessive worry, nervousness, or apprehension.
Anxiety is a common human emotion that can manifest as feelings of unease, worry, fear, and restlessness. It can be triggered by various factors and may involve physical symptoms like rapid heartbeat and shortness of breath.
