Class A GPCRs are super important proteins that control almost everything in our bodies! They act like cell phones, sending signals within. This project will help us understand how they work so we can design new drugs to treat diseases like cancer, diabetes, and depression.

Class A GPCRs: Class A GPCRs are pivotal drug targets in our body, as they are involved in regulating almost all homeostatic processes in the human body.

It is estimated that around 35% of all drugs currently approved by the FDA target one of these GPCRs.

These proteins act like 'molecular telephones' and transmit signals from outside the cell to inside the cell.

Here, we aim to study the process that underlies their action on our body.

This is integral for providing insights into the protein's function and design better and new drugs targeting cancer, diabetes, depression and anxiety.

GPCRs are a large family of cell surface receptors that play crucial roles in transmitting signals within the body. They are involved in various physiological processes and are important targets for drug development.

Food and Drug Administration

The FDA is a US government agency responsible for protecting public health by ensuring the safety, efficacy, and security of human and veterinary drugs, biological products, medical devices, our nation's food supply, cosmetics, and products that emit radiation.

Cancer

A group of diseases involving abnormal cell growth with the potential to invade or spread to other parts of the body.

Cancer is a broad term for diseases characterized by uncontrolled cell growth. These cells can invade surrounding tissues and spread to other parts of the body (metastasis). Cancer arises from genetic mutations that disrupt normal cellular processes.

Diabetes

A metabolic disorder characterized by high blood sugar levels due to problems with insulin production or action.

Diabetes is a chronic condition affecting how the body regulates blood sugar. It occurs when the pancreas doesn't produce enough insulin (Type 1) or when cells become resistant to insulin's effects (Type 2). This leads to high blood sugar levels, which can damage organs over time.

Depression

A mood disorder characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and loss of interest.

Depression is a common mental health condition that affects how people feel, think, and behave. Symptoms include persistent sadness, loss of interest in activities, changes in appetite and sleep, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating.

Anxiety

A feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, often about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.

Anxiety is a common human emotion characterized by feelings of worry, fear, and apprehension. It can manifest as physical symptoms like increased heart rate, sweating, and difficulty breathing. When anxiety becomes persistent and interferes with daily life, it may be a sign of an anxiety disorder.
