TLDR; PROJECT SUMMARY AI BETA
Folding@home is using computer power to study proteins from the COVID-19 virus. This helps scientists learn how the virus works and find potential drugs to fight it. The project focuses on the main protease, a key protein for the virus to replicate. People can contribute by running simulations on their computers.

CORONAVIRUS PROJECT These projects are part of Folding@home’s efforts to assist researchers around the world taking up the global fight against COVID-19.
At the time of release, this is the latest news update: https://foldingathome.org/2020/03/10/covid19-update/ These projects are CPU projects to simulate COVID-19 proteins to learn about their dynamics and function.
These supplement high-priority GPU projects of the main protease as well as the COVID-19 receptor binding domains.
All can be considered potential drug targets.
Please stay tuned to https://foldingathome.org/news/ for more current updates.
ALL of these projects are Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 main protease in complex with a potential inhibitor:

RELATED TERMS GLOSSARY AI BETA
Coronavirus
A type of virus that can cause respiratory illness.
Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that can infect humans and animals. Some coronaviruses cause mild illnesses like the common cold, while others can cause more serious diseases like SARS and MERS. The COVID-19 pandemic was caused by a novel coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2.
SARS-CoV-2
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2
SARS-CoV-2 is the virus that causes COVID-19. It is a type of coronavirus that was first identified in Wuhan, China in late 2019.
Protein
A large biomolecule composed of amino acids.
Proteins are essential building blocks of all living organisms. They have a wide variety of functions, including catalyzing biochemical reactions, transporting molecules, providing structural support, and regulating cell processes.
Drug Targets
Molecules or pathways that are involved in disease and can be targeted by drugs.
Drug targets are essential for the development of new therapies. By understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying diseases, scientists can identify potential drug targets that can be used to treat patients.
Main Protease
A key enzyme in the replication cycle of coronaviruses.
The main protease is essential for coronaviruses to replicate. It cleaves viral proteins into smaller pieces, which are then assembled into new virus particles. Inhibiting the main protease can prevent viral replication and treat COVID-19.
Inhibitor
A molecule that binds to a target protein and reduces its activity.
Inhibitors are used in many drugs to block the activity of specific enzymes or proteins. By inhibiting the function of disease-causing molecules, inhibitors can treat various conditions.
