TLDR; PROJECT SUMMARY AI BETA
This project studies the SARS-CoV-2 virus's key protein that makes copies of its genetic material. Scientists will use computer models to find areas on this protein where drugs could attach and block its activity. They'll also see how changes in the protein's code affect drug effectiveness.

This project simulates the SARS-Cov2 nsp12 polymerase (RNA-directed RNA polymerase), which is responsible for duplicating the SARS-Cov2 genome during infection.
These simulations will focus on identifying druggable pockets on the protein's surface as well as predicting the effect of mutations on drug sensitivity.

An enzyme that synthesizes polymers from monomers.
Polymerases are biological machines that build long chains of molecules. In the case of RNA polymerase, it builds RNA chains using DNA as a template.
Drug Sensitivity
The degree to which a cell or organism responds to a drug.
Drug sensitivity describes how well a particular substance works against a target. A sensitive organism is easily affected by a drug, while a resistant one requires a higher dose for the same effect.
Mutations
Permanent alterations in the DNA sequence.
Mutations are changes in the genetic code. They can be small changes in a single letter or large-scale rearrangements of DNA. Mutations are the driving force behind evolution and can lead to new traits.
