TLDR; PROJECT SUMMARY AI BETA
This project looks at how certain proteins in our bodies change shape. These proteins (like the ones involved in diabetes and bone health) can be targeted by drugs. Understanding their movements could help create better medicines.
Note: This TLDR is a simplication and may not be 100% accurate.OFFICAL PROJECT DESCRIPTION
G-Protein Coupled Receptors: G-Protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) are membrane proteins involved in the pathogenesis of diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, etc.
Here, we are trying to study the conformational dynamics of the Glucagon Receptor, Glucagon-like Peptide 1 receptor, PArathyroid Hormone Receptor, Pituitary Adenlyate Cyclase Receptor and Secretin Receptor - All Class B GPCRs.
These studies will help in designing better drugs that target these receptors.

G-Protein Coupled Receptors
GPCRs
G-Protein Coupled Receptors are a large family of cell surface receptors that play crucial roles in transmitting signals within the body. They are involved in various physiological processes, including sensory perception, hormone regulation, and immune responses.
Glucagon Receptor
A type of G protein-coupled receptor that binds to the hormone glucagon.
The Glucagon Receptor is a protein found on the surface of cells in the liver and other tissues. When glucagon, a hormone produced by the pancreas, binds to this receptor, it triggers the release of glucose (sugar) into the bloodstream. This helps regulate blood sugar levels.
Glucagon-like Peptide 1 Receptor
GLP-1R
The Glucagon-like Peptide 1 Receptor (GLP-1R) is a protein found on the surface of cells in the pancreas and other tissues. When GLP-1, a hormone released by the gut after eating, binds to this receptor, it stimulates insulin production and suppresses glucagon release.
PArathyroid Hormone Receptor
PTHrR
The Parathyroid Hormone Receptor (PTHrR) is a protein found on the surface of various cells, including bone cells. When parathyroid hormone (PTH) binds to this receptor, it stimulates calcium release from bones and promotes kidney reabsorption of calcium.
Pituitary Adenylate Cyclase Receptor
PAC1R
The Pituitary Adenylate Cyclase Activating Polypeptide Receptor 1 (PAC1R) is a protein found on the surface of pituitary cells. When PACAP, a hormone involved in stress response and neurotransmission, binds to this receptor, it activates signaling pathways that regulate hormone secretion.
Secretin Receptor
A type of G protein-coupled receptor that binds to the hormone secretin.
The Secretin Receptor is a protein found on the surface of cells in the pancreas and other tissues. When secretin, a hormone released by the duodenum (part of the small intestine), binds to this receptor, it stimulates bicarbonate secretion from the pancreas to neutralize acidic chyme.
