Proteins are like tiny machines with specific shapes. Sometimes, changes in their instructions (mutations) can make them fold wrong, causing diseases like cancer and Alzheimer's. This project studies how these changes affect the stability of proteins at different temperatures.

Protein misfolding occurs when a peptide cannot fold into its native structure.
Mutations in the protein sequence may cause alterations of the native folded conformation, leading to diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer's.
Understanding protein misfolding as a function of mutations is currently one of the biggest challenges in the biological sciences.
This project is concerned with characterizing the effect of specific mutations on the hydrophobic packing of proteins at different temperatures to predict thermostability.

Protein

Cancer is a complex group of diseases involving the abnormal proliferation of cells. This uncontrolled growth can lead to the formation of tumors and the invasion of surrounding tissues. Cancer can affect various organs and systems in the body.
Alzheimer's
A progressive neurodegenerative disease.
Alzheimer's disease is a chronic brain disorder that gradually impairs cognitive function, including memory, thinking, and behavior. It is characterized by the accumulation of abnormal protein deposits in the brain.
