FOLDING PROJECT #16969 PROFILE

This project studies how short protein pieces called peptides fold into specific shapes. Scientists are using computer simulations to see if they can predict how different peptide designs will fold, comparing the results to real-world experiments. This could help us design new proteins with useful functions.

This project simulates the folding dynamics of several peptide variants with the beta-strap motif.

A number of labs have designed sequences to probe the importance of this motif in the formation of beta hairpins due to the lack of synthetic beta hairpins.

We are particularly interested in comparing simulation results to experimental data across many different sequences, to assess the viability of simulation-based computational protein design.
